About/ Contact

Hi there and thank you for dropping by my pages!

My name is Mark Broadbent and I am a Microsoft Certified Master in SQL Server (there are approximately 28 of us in the UK and 220 worldwide, although this certification has now been grandfathered) and a former Microsoft Data Platform MVP.  I work primarily as a Cloud Architect primarily focused in the Microsoft space, but occasionally get my hands dirty with other technology stacks.

I have had a very long history with UK and Global data communities, and am a former PASS UK Regional Mentor and the event founder and lead to SQL Saturday Cambridge (the UK’s first ever SQLSaturday) and SharePoint Saturday Cambridge. I also ran the East Anglia SQL Server User Group for many years and have been a regular speaker at local and international data conferences since 2010. In the past, I have been best known for my High Availability and Disaster Recovery knowledge as well as my Transaction Processing and concurrency expertise, and have been involved in four book projects in these areas. These days I spend much of my time hosting bi-weekly online events through the Hybrid Virtual Group and encourage you to come and join us!

Great presentation yesterday at the SQL server user group (London). What was the significance of the spids in your demo, I don’t think you let on!

Thank you sir! Appreciate you coming. So the spids were… 2012’s SQLSaturday 162 Cambridge (the one I run) and SQLSaturday 115 Lisboa -my two favorite SQLSaturdays. Thanks for dropping by the blog. 🙂
